After a powerful start in Gauteng, where our first cohort of young women completed the SAWID Her Rising Leadership Programme for Girls, we are proud to announce the next chapter.
This September, the programme journeys to the Eastern Cape, bringing together a new group of future leaders.
The Her Rising Leadership Programme empowers young women to:
Build confidence, voice, and vision
Engage in dialogue that shapes their communities
Step into leadership roles with courage and clarity

This flagship initiative reflects SAWID’s commitment to investing in the next generation of women leaders because when one girl rises, we all rise.

To wrap up Youth Month, a session regarding youth participation within local government structures was held given the low turnout of young people at the previous local government election. The aim of the session was also to prepare and capacitate the next cohort of public officials navigate the service delivery crisis. This session also discussed the importance of youth development programmes at municipal level.
